Voluntary Discharge and Therapeutic Refusals in Pediatrics: Dilemmas of Clinical Practice
Main Article Content
Abstract
In clinical practice, pediatricians may face situations that evaluate our legal and ethical knowledge, and that end up generating dilemmas as when parents request voluntary discharge from a health service, or when they reject a treatment, or even when is the patients who say “no” to a medical intervention. Since the creation of the Declaration of the Rights of Children, new laws have been generated that regulate decision-making regarding the health of girls, boys and adolescents and that require mass education as that medical decisions are in accordance with the protection of all fundamental rights. Thus, education in these norms and dialogue with families and patients becomes the fundamental key for to face these complex situations.
