Abstract

In 2017, the journal Pediatrics of the American Academy of Pediatrics published a challenging article entitled The Next 7 Great Achievements in Pediatric Research (1). That article listed, according to the authors, the seven great achievements in pediatric research that had been reached so far: 1) The prevention of diseases with vaccines. 2) The reduction of sudden infant death through the "Sleep on your back" campaign. 3) Curing a common childhood cancer. 4) Saving premature babies by helping them breathe. 5) Preventing mother-to-child transmission of HIV. 6) Increasing the life expectancy of chronically ill children and 7) Saving lives with car seats and seat belts.
