Impact of SARS-CoV-2 Pandemic on Childrens' Ocular Health.

Main Article Content

Abstract

Background: Infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus has caused a life-threatening pandemic. The incidence of the disease makes it necessary to consider the impact on children's eye health. Objective: To present a scoping literature review on the impact of the pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2 on children's eye health. Conclusions: Direct eye disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus is usually mild and superficial, but the circumstances of the need for protection and isolation have generated multiple eye problems in childhood. The SARS-CoV-2 virus, quarantine, and other protective measures necessary to prevent infection and the presence of viral particles in the tear film have implications for children's eye health that the health and safety personnel community must understand.
