Recomendaciones para la realización de estudios de sueño pediátricos durante la pandemia covid-19

Resumen

En Colombia, con la actual pandemia por COVID-19, algunas unidades de sueño suspendieron la realización de estudios de sueño en población pediátrica, debido al probable contagio y propagación. De acuerdo con las autoridades competentes, desde junio del 2020, Colombia se encuentra en la fase de mitigación del COVID-19 y las medidas obligatorias de prevención implementadas por el gobierno colombiano como el lavado de manos frecuente, el uso de tapabocas en sitios públicos, el distanciamiento físico y social y el confinamiento de la mayoría de la población en sus hogares, han ayudado a reducir la velocidad de propagación del virus. Sin embargo, debido a la grave crisis económica causada por la pandemia, las autoridades sanitarias locales han emitido varias medidas de bioseguridad para retornar poco a poco a una relativa normalidad, incluyendo la prestación de servicios de salud a pacientes no COVID-19. El objetivo de este artículo es realizar recomendaciones para que las unidades de sueño locales implementen las medidas de bioseguridad mínimas que permitan el reinicio y adecuado desarrollo de los estudios de sueño en población pediátrica. Estas recomendaciones se basan en las estrategias de mitigación establecidas por las autoridades sanitarias locales, en una revisión de la literatura relevante disponible y en las recomendaciones de algunas asociaciones de medicina del sueño.
